Job Description

Commi 1 (or Commis Chef):

Responsibilities:

Prepares and cooks food, ensuring quality and meeting presentation standards. May lead a station or section within the kitchen. Guides and trains junior chefs. Responsible for stock movement, requisitioning items, and managing deliveries. Maintains kitchen hygiene and safety standards.

Key Skills:

Cooking skills, including the ability to prepare various dishes and ingredients. Food safety knowledge and adherence to hygiene protocols. Leadership and communication skills to guide junior chefs. Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Commi 2 (or Assistant Chef):

Responsibilities:

Assists in preparing food items and ingredients. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area. Follows instructions from senior chefs and adheres to recipes. May assist with buffet maintenance or customer service in some roles.

Key Skills:

Basic cooking skills and familiarity with food preparation techniques. Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. Teamwork and communication skills to effectively work with the kitchen staff.
In essence, a Commi 1 is a more experienced and responsible chef who can take on a leading role, while a Commi 2 is an assistant who supports the kitchen staff by preparing ingredients and maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness and organization.
