Job Summary

The Commi 1 (Wok) is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Asian or Chinese cuisine using wok techniques. The role involves assisting the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring food consistency, taste, and presentation according to the restaurant's standards. The position demands strong wok-handling skills, speed, and attention to hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook, and serve authentic Asian dishes using wok techniques. Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and presentation standards. Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in food preparation and mise en place. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wok station and kitchen area. Monitor food stock levels and communicate shortages to supervisors. Ensure all food items are stored properly to maintain freshness and quality. Follow food safety and hygiene standards as per HACCP and company policy. Support in training and guiding junior staff or kitchen helpers when required. Minimize food waste through proper portion control and storage. Work efficiently during peak service hours while maintaining quality standards. Assist in receiving and checking the quality of raw ingredients. Adhere to all company policies, health, and safety regulations.

Requirements:

Proven experience as Commi 1 (Wok) or similar role in an Asian or Chinese kitchen. Strong wok-handling and stir-frying skills. Basic knowledge of sauces, seasonings, and Asian cooking techniques. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards. Physically fit and able to work long hours, including weekends and holidays. Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent (preferred). Basic understanding of English or local language.
