Job Description

The Commis 1 (Continental) is a skilled line cook responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within the Continental section of the kitchen. This role involves maintaining high culinary standards, ensuring consistency in food quality, and supporting daily kitchen operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking

Prepare and cook high-quality Continental dishes according to restaurant standards. Assist in menu execution for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines. Ensure timely preparation of dishes during service.

Kitchen Operations

Set up workstations with necessary ingredients, equipment, and utensils. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the assigned section. Support Chef de Partie in daily operations and delegated tasks. Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Chef.

Food Safety & Hygiene

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards (HACCP compliance). Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food items (FIFO). Keep cooking areas and equipment clean at all times.

Teamwork & Communication

Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Assist junior cooks (Commis 2/3) when necessary. Communicate effectively with other sections during service.

Qualifications & Skills

Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts preferred. 1-3 years of experience in Continental/Western cuisine. Strong knowledge of grilling, sauteing, roasting, and plating. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong attention to detail and passion for food.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long hours. Ability to lift 10-20 kg occasionally. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: ?20,000.00 - ?22,000.00 per month
