The Commercial In-Charge / Estimator - Ship Repair is responsible for preparing accurate commercial estimates, cost analysis, and tender documentation for ship repair projects. The role involves close coordination with technical teams, vendors, and clients to ensure competitive and compliant commercial proposals.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and commercial proposals for ship repair and maintenance projects.
Analyze technical specifications, drawings, and scope of work to determine accurate costing.
Coordinate with technical, procurement, and operations teams to validate estimates.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
Monitor cost variations, revisions, and post-job cost analysis.
Support negotiations with clients and ship owners on commercial aspects.
Maintain estimation records, cost databases, and commercial documentation.
Ensure compliance with company standards, timelines, and contractual requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum
2 years
of relevant experience in
ship repair estimation
.
Qualification:
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
.
Prior experience in shipyards, marine repair companies, or offshore projects is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of ship repair processes and costing methods.
Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation tools.
Good analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Team coordination and stakeholder management skills.
