The Collection Manager will be responsible for leading the company's efforts to manage and recover delinquent chits/accounts while maintaining positive customer relationships. This role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of debt recovery best practices, and a commitment to achieving high collection targets while ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Management
Lead and Mentor:
Recruit, train, and manage a team of Collection Officers/Executives, setting clear performance expectations and collection targets.
Performance Monitoring:
Conduct regular performance reviews, one-on-one coaching, and field visits to optimize team efficiency and adherence to protocols.
Workflow Optimization:
Allocate accounts and portfolios efficiently to team members based on location, delinquency level, and collector skill set.
2. Strategy & Operations
Develop Collection Strategy:
Create and implement effective collection policies, strategies, and procedures to minimize Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and bad debt.
Delinquency Management:
Proactively manage and execute strategies for accounts in various delinquency buckets (e.g., 30+ DPD, 60+ DPD).
Legal Compliance:
Ensure all collection activities strictly comply with the Chit Funds Act, local laws, and ethical standards, protecting the company's reputation.
Utilize advanced Excel and collection software to analyze collection performance data, identify trends, and forecast future delinquency risks.
Reporting:
Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on key metrics such as collection efficiency, resolution rates, and outstanding balances for senior management.
System Integrity:
Ensure accurate and timely logging of all collection calls, visits, and negotiations in the collection management system.
? Required Skills & Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B.Com, BBA, Finance, or a related field preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in collections, credit control, or accounts receivable, with at least
2 years in a managerial or supervisory role
, preferably within the Chit Fund, NBFC, or banking sector.
Leadership:
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a high-performing collection team.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in
English and Tamil
(or relevant local language).
Technical Proficiency:
Strong analytical skills and expertise in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and collection management software.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of the Chit Funds Act and regulatory guidelines concerning debt collection.
Personal Attributes:
High level of integrity, strong negotiation skills, and ability to remain composed under pressure.
