1. Job Summary
The Coffee Roaster - Junior Level will be responsible for handling day-to-day roasting operations and establishing consistent roasting practices for Harley Coffee. This role will play a key part in setting up basic roast profiles, maintaining quality standards, and supporting production, packaging, and coordination with estates. The role requires a hands-on professional with prior roasting exposure, a strong learning mindset, and willingness to travel.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Roasting & Production
Independently operate and monitor coffee roasting machines as per defined production requirements.
Develop, execute, and maintain basic roast profiles for different coffee varieties and blends.
Monitor roast parameters such as time, temperature, and airflow to ensure consistency.
Handle cooling, degassing, and preparation of roasted coffee for packaging.
Maintain daily roasting logs, batch records, and production data.
B. Quality Control & Sensory
Conduct routine sensory checks and basic cupping for quality consistency.
Identify roast defects and flavor deviations and take corrective actions.
Maintain sample references and roast documentation for benchmarking.
C. Inventory & Equipment Management
Coordinate green bean intake, weighing, and usage planning.
Monitor green and roasted coffee stock levels.
Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and safe handling of roasting equipment.
Follow hygiene, safety, and SOP standards within the roastery.
D. Packaging & Dispatch Support
Coordinate packaging, labeling, and batch identification.
Support timely dispatch for retail, wholesale, and internal requirements.
Work closely with operations and sales teams for order planning.
E. Travel & Estate Coordination
Travel to Harley Coffee estates and partner facilities as required.
Coordinate with estate and processing teams to understand bean characteristics and processing variations.
Support quality alignment, trials, audits, and process improvements across locations.
3. Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Hands-on knowledge of coffee roasting fundamentals and production workflows.
Basic understanding of specialty coffee profiles and roast development.
Ability to work independently and manage roasting operations.
Basic documentation, reporting, and data recording skills.
Familiarity with roast profiling software is an advantage.

4. Qualifications & Experience

5. Salary Range
?28,000 - ?40,000 per month
