Job Purpose

The CNC Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines (lathe, milling, turning, or grinding) according to specifications. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining requirements. Load raw materials and tooling, ensuring correct alignment and positioning. Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations and make necessary adjustments. Perform in-process inspections using measuring tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM if required). Ensure finished components meet dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and quality standards. Carry out preventive maintenance and daily machine checks to ensure proper functioning. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Record production data, job reports, and downtime logs. Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to improve machining processes and reduce rework.

Qualifications & Skills

ITI/Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience operating CNC machines (Fresher with training can also be considered). Knowledge of G-code, M-code, and CNC programming basics preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Skilled in using measuring instruments and precision tools. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work in shifts and under production deadlines.
