Job Description

A VMC Operator primarily works with vertical machining centers (VMCs). Here are the key responsibilities associated with this role:

Machine Setup and Operation:

Set up and prepare the VMC for production by selecting appropriate cutting tools, loading workpieces, and configuring machine parameters (such as speed, feed, and depth of cut). Operate the VMC to execute machining operations according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Programming:

Program the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines using G-code or CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software. This involves creating instructions for the machine to follow during production. Efficiently translate design specifications into machine-readable code.

Quality Control:

Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments (like micrometers, calipers, and gauges) to ensure they meet quality standards. Make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy and precision.

Maintenance:

Monitor machine performance during operation and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep the VMC running optimally. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during production.
