To develop, validate, and optimize CNC programs for a range of machining platforms (3-axis & 5-axis VMC, turning centers), as well as waterjet and laser cutting systems, ensuring high-quality and efficient production while maintaining process reliability and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development
Create and optimize CNC programs for
5-axis and 3-axis machine tools
.
Develop CAM strategies using software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX, PowerMill, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, SolidCAM).
Generate programs for
turning centers
(CNC lathes, mill-turn machines).
Produce cutting files for
waterjet cutting
and
laser cutting systems
(e.g., Hypertherm, Trumpf, Bystronic).
Machine Setup & Verification
Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists, and workholding fixtures.
Conduct simulation and dry-run validation (offline and on-machine).
Optimize cutting parameters and ensure safe tool paths.
Process Improvement
Reduce cycle time while improving accuracy and surface finish.
Standardize best practices across machines and products.
Identify and resolve machining issues (tool wear, vibrations, etc.).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with design engineers to ensure manufacturability.
Coordinate with QA to establish tolerances and inspection points.
Support production floor during troubleshooting and ramp-ups.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain up-to-date job cards, process documentation, and revision history.
Provide training and guidance to operators where necessary.
Skills & Qualifications
Education:
Diploma/BE/BTech/Engineering (Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Manufacturing)
Technical Skills:
Strong CAM proficiency
(Mastercam, NX, PowerMill, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
Experience with
5-axis simultaneous machining
(positional and contouring).
Knowledge of
turning / mill-turn programming
(multi-tasking machines).
Familiarity with
waterjet and laser cutting path generation
and parameter optimization.
Good understanding of
machining processes
, tooling, feeds & speeds.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T).
Preferred:
Practical shop floor experience.
Knowledge of machining materials (Al, SS, Ti, Copper, plastics, composites).
Experience with DNC and machine tool communication.
Familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma principles.
