Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant CNC Programmer to become an integral part of our Research & Development team within the precision hand tool manufacturing industry. This role is pivotal in advancing our capabilities in developing high-precision hand tools, including spanners, ratchets, and associated components. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting prototype development, process improvements, and new product introductions, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of durability and dimensional accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- CAD/CAM Programming: Develop and optimize CNC programs using advanced CAM software to ensure efficient and accurate machining of high-precision hand tools.
- Toolpath Optimization: Analyze and refine toolpaths to enhance machining efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve product quality.
- Fixture and Jig Design: Design and implement effective fixtures and jigs to support the machining process, ensuring stability and precision during operations.
- Machining Tolerances: Collaborate with the engineering team to define and achieve precise machining tolerances, ensuring products meet stringent quality standards.
- Tooling Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools and materials to optimize machining performance and extend tool life.
- Prototype Development: Assist in the development and machining of prototypes, facilitating rapid prototyping and design validation.
- Process Improvements: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- New Product Introductions: Support the introduction of new products by developing and refining CNC programs and machining processes.
- 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing: Utilize 3D printing technologies to support rapid prototyping and validate design concepts during the product development cycle.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and production, to ensure seamless integration of CNC programming into the product development process.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in CAD/CAM programming and CNC machining, specifically in the development of high-precision hand tools.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in CAM software with a strong understanding of toolpath optimization, fixture and jig design, machining tolerances, and tooling selection.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the precision hand tool manufacturing industry and its specific requirements.
- 3D Printing Expertise: Working knowledge of 3D printing/additive manufacturing technologies to support rapid prototyping and design validation.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address machining challenges and improve processes.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in all aspects of CNC programming and machining.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
