CAM Programmer cum Setter

A CAM Programmer cum Setter is responsible for creating and optimizing Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programs for CNC machines and then physically setting up and operating those machines to produce high-quality parts from engineering drawings and 3D models. Key duties include selecting cutting tools and fixtures, monitoring machine operation, troubleshooting issues, performing first article inspections, and maintaining proper documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

CAM Programming:

Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX) for various machining operations (turning, milling, 5-axis).

Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and work holding devices.

Machine Setting & Operation:

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD models to understand part dimensions and tolerances.

Set up and align cutting tools, fixtures, and materials on CNC machines.

Calculate and set machine controls for parameters like speed, feed, and depth of cut.

Start and observe machine operation to ensure accuracy and identify malfunctions.

Quality & Troubleshooting:

Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify that finished parts meet quality standards and tolerances.

Make adjustments to machine controls or programs as needed to maintain quality.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CNC machine operation, program errors, and tooling problems.

Documentation & Collaboration:

Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, setups, and any revisions made.

Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and other team members to optimize production processes and resolve issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proficiency in relevant CAM software (e.g., NX CAM, Mastercam) and CAD principles.

Strong understanding of CNC machining, manufacturing processes, and associated terminology.

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Knowledge of precision measuring instruments for quality control.

Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with safety standards and protocols for CNC machines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?30,000.00 - ?35,000.00 per month
