Position: CNC Plasma Cutting Machine Operator

Department: Production / Fabrication

Reporting To: Production Supervisor / Shop In-charge

Location: Fabrication Yard / Workshop

Shift: Day / Night Shift (as per production requirement)

Salary: Rs 30000/- or 1200/- per day

Job Summary

The CNC Plasma Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining CNC plasma cutting machines to cut steel plates and sections as per approved drawings, nesting plans, and production schedules, ensuring accuracy, quality, safety, and minimal material wastage.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production

Operate CNC plasma cutting machines as per job instructions and nesting programs. Load and unload steel plates safely using cranes, forklifts, or material handling equipment. Execute cutting operations as per drawings, nesting layouts, and work orders. Ensure dimensional accuracy, cut quality, and surface finish as per specifications. Achieve daily and shift-wise production targets with minimal downtime.

Programming & Setup

Read and understand engineering drawings, cutting plans, and BOMs. Assist in basic CNC programming, nesting verification, and parameter settings (cut speed, amperage, gas pressure, etc.). Perform machine setup, torch alignment, and calibration before cutting.

Quality Control

Inspect cut components for dimensions, edge quality, and defects. Coordinate with QC team for inspection and rectification of non-conforming items. Minimize scrap and rework by following approved cutting procedures.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

Carry out daily machine checks, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance. Report machine breakdowns, abnormal noises, or performance issues immediately. Maintain proper housekeeping around the machine and cutting area.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and company safety policies. Ensure safe handling of gas cylinders, power cables, and cutting consumables. Comply with SOPs, ISO, and safety standards applicable to fabrication operations.

Key Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of CNC plasma cutting operations and parameters Ability to read fabrication drawings and cutting layouts Understanding of steel grades, plate thickness, and cutting tolerances Basic CNC programming / nesting knowledge (preferred) Strong focus on safety, accuracy, and productivity

Qualifications & Experience

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Welder, or relevant trade preferred Minimum

2-5 years of experience

operating CNC plasma cutting machines in a steel fabrication environment Experience in heavy fabrication / shipyard / structural steel projects is an advantage

Physical & Work Requirements

Willingness to work in

day/night shifts

and extended hours if required Ability to work in a fabrication yard environment Physically fit to handle shop-floor operations

Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
