The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to fabricate wooden components for furniture production. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC machinery, blueprints, and safety procedures, as well as a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality output.
Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
Operate CNC routers, and other CNC equipment to cut, shape, and drill wooden parts according to specifications.
Load and unload materials onto the CNC machines.
Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations from specifications.
Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Setup and Programming:
Set up CNC machines by installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine specifications and programming requirements.
Load and modify CNC programs as needed.
Perform test runs to verify accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Identify and report any defects or deviations from specifications.
Maintain accurate records of production and quality control data.
Maintenance and Safety:
Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning and lubrication.
Troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions and report major issues to maintenance personnel.
Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Material Handling:
Handle various types of wood materials, ensuring proper storage and handling to prevent damage.
Assist in material inventory control.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
Proven experience as a CNC operator, preferably in a woodworking or furniture manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of CNC machine operation and programming.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Proficiency in using measuring tools and quality control techniques.
Knowledge of woodworking materials and techniques.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
