Job Description

A CNC Operator cum Programmer is responsible for creating CNC programs, setting up machines, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-precision parts as per engineering drawings and quality standards. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. CNC Programming

Create CNC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360, etc.).

Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications.

Optimize machining processes for accuracy, quality, and efficiency.

Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.

2. Machine Setup

Set up CNC machines such as Milling, Turning, VMC, or HMC.

Load tools, fixtures, and materials correctly.

Ensure proper alignment and calibration before starting production.

3. Machine Operation

Operate CNC machines to manufacture components as per approved programs.

Perform first-piece inspection and make necessary adjustments.

Monitor machine performance during runs.

4. Quality Control

Measure components using instruments like vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, CMM.

Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish as per customer requirements.

Document inspection results and maintain production records.

5. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Identify machining issues and adjust parameters or tools as needed.

Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure safe operations.

Report machine faults to maintenance or supervisors

Required Skills & Qualifications

1-2 years of experience as CNC Operator/Programmer.

Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, and CAM software.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Familiarity with different materials (MS, SS, Aluminium, etc.).

Good understanding of machining tolerances and cutting tools.
