The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Operation:
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
Load materials such as metals, plastics, or composites into the CNC machine.
Set machine controls for cutting speed, tool selection, and dimensions.
Perform calibration and alignment of machines before production runs.
Programming Support:
Assist in inputting or verifying CNC machine programs.
Troubleshoot programming errors and make necessary adjustments.
Quality Control:
Monitor machining processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to inspect parts.
Identify defects or deviations and take corrective actions.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and replacing worn parts.
Report machine malfunctions or breakdowns promptly.
Ensure machines are in safe working condition at all times.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Adhere to operational guidelines and company policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of machine settings, adjustments, and completed work.
Report production progress, issues, and maintenance activities to supervisors.
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other team members.
Assist in improving production efficiency and implementing best practices.
Skills Required:
Knowledge of CNC machines and tooling.
Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and precision.
Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Good communication and teamwork.
Qualifications:
Diploma or certification in machining or mechanical engineering is preferred.
Experience working with CNC machines is advantageous.
