The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts according to technical drawings and specifications. The operator ensures machines are running efficiently, parts meet quality standards, and production goals are achieved safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC machines (lathe, milling, or turning centers) as per production requirements.
Load raw materials and perform machine adjustments as necessary.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders to determine machine setup and operations.
Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
Identify and troubleshoot minor issues in machine performance or part quality.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
Follow safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
Collaborate with programmers and engineers to optimize machining processes.
Record production data and maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or technical certification in machining, manufacturing, or related field.
1-3 years of experience as a CNC operator (experience with specific machines, e.g., turning machine).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and G-code.
Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality control processes.
Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface operations.
