is responsible for developing, validating, and maintaining CMM programs used for precise dimensional inspection of machined and cast components. The role requires expertise in
CMM programming software, GD&T interpretation, and 3D model analysis
to ensure that all parts meet customer and engineering requirements with the highest accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, modify, and optimize
CMM programs
using software such as
PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS
, or equivalent.
Perform
first article, in-process, and final inspections
using CMM and conventional instruments.
Analyze 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to define appropriate inspection strategies and probing paths.
Generate and maintain detailed
inspection reports, deviation reports, and PPAP documentation
.
Ensure CMM inspection programs are standardized and stored with proper version control.
Validate programs by performing trial runs and verifying results with reference standards.
Collaborate with production, machining, and design teams to resolve dimensional and tolerance-related issues.
Support
fixture validation
, layout inspection, and reverse engineering as needed.
Monitor calibration status of measuring instruments and maintain equipment in proper condition.
Train and guide CMM operators on running programs and interpreting results.
Adhere to ISO, IATF, and customer-specific quality requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Tool Engineering.
2-6 years of hands-on experience in
CMM programming and inspection
.
Proficiency in at least one CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).
Strong knowledge of
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
and engineering drawings.
Experience in inspection of castings, machined parts, or tooling components.
Familiarity with 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD).
Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Exposure to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality systems preferred.
