Job Title: Cloud Operations Engineer (GCP)

Role Summary
We are looking for a skilled Cloud Operations Engineer to build, operate, and continuously improve our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of our cloud platforms, primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with exposure to Azure.
You will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Architecture teams to provision, automate, monitor, and optimize cloud environments supporting mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure including VMs, storage, networking, and Kubernetes clusters (GKE) on GCP.
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
Support and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver), Prometheus, and Grafana.
Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues related to IAM policies, networking (VPCs, routes, firewalls), Kubernetes deployments, and cloud services.
Define, implement, and enforce cloud security controls, including IAM, encryption, firewall rules, and data protection/DLP policies.
Collaborate with cloud, DevOps, and security teams to ensure high availability, compliance, and resilience.
Drive cost optimization and FinOps initiatives, including rightsizing, autoscaling, and usage of spot/preemptible instances.
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of cloud operations processes.
Skills & Experience
5-7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and operations.
Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP); Azure exposure is a plus.
Proficiency in Terraform and scripting using Shell and/or Python.
Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar.
Strong understanding of networking concepts: VPCs, subnets, load balancers, firewalls, routing, and DNS.
Good experience with Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with FinOps tools such as CloudHealth, Kubecost, Apptio, and native cloud billing APIs.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
Experience in multi-cloud environments.
Exposure to security best practices and compliance frameworks.
Relevant cloud certifications (GCP/Azure) are a plus.
