Job Title: Civil Lead Engineer - Oil & Gas Projects

Location: Mumbai

Department: Engineering / Projects

Reporting to: Engineering Manager / Project Manager

Role Summary

The Civil Lead Engineer will lead the civil and structural engineering scope of large-scale Oil & Gas projects (onshore/offshore), from concept through detailed design and construction. This includes responsibility for civil foundations, structural analysis, site development, and construction support--ensuring alignment with international standards, client specifications, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Design & Execution

Lead and manage the preparation of civil and structural design deliverables: general arrangement drawings, foundation layouts, equipment supports, underground services, and buildings. Perform or supervise analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, including pipe racks, equipment foundations, blast-proof buildings, and culverts. Review soil investigation reports, drainage plans, road layouts, grading plans, and utility routing.

2. Project Management & Coordination

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, etc.) to ensure seamless integration. Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors for design alignment and technical clarifications. Monitor engineering schedules, budgets, and deliverables to meet project milestones.

3. Codes & Standards Compliance

Ensure designs comply with international standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, IS codes, BS, Eurocode) and Oil & Gas industry norms (e.g., Shell DEP, Saudi Aramco standards, ADNOC, etc.). Apply safety standards including blast resistance, fireproofing, and seismic criteria.

4. Site & Construction Support

Provide technical support during site execution, including resolution of field queries, inspection of civil works, and redlining of drawings. Participate in constructability reviews and site coordination meetings.

5. Documentation & Quality Assurance

Prepare and review technical documents: design basis, specifications, method statements, and bill of quantities (BOQ). Conduct and participate in internal and external design reviews, HAZID, and model reviews.

6. Leadership & Team Management

Lead a team of junior engineers, designers, and drafters. Assign tasks, provide technical mentorship, and ensure deliverable quality and accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Mandatory) M.E./M.Tech in Structural Engineering (Preferred)

Experience:

10-20 years of relevant experience in civil/structural engineering for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Pipeline projects. Experience with FEED and EPC phases is essential.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in civil and structural analysis tools:

STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE

Familiar with drafting/modeling tools:

AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Tekla Structures

Strong knowledge of foundation design (shallow and deep), steel structures, underground piping supports, retaining structures, etc. Familiarity with geotechnical interpretation, hydrology, and stormwater design is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership, communication, and client coordination skills. Ability to work in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment. Capable of leading teams and meeting tight project deadlines.
