Key Responsibilities
Implement and monitor
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
policies at construction sites
Conduct
site safety inspections
, audits, and hazard identification
Ensure compliance with
local safety laws, IS codes, and company safety standards
Prepare and maintain
safety documentation
, reports, and records
Conduct
toolbox talks
, safety inductions, and training programs for workers and staff
Investigate
accidents, incidents, and near misses
and recommend corrective actions
Monitor use of
PPE
and ensure proper safety practices on site
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to enforce safety norms
Review
method statements and risk assessments
before execution of activities
Ensure safety during high-risk activities such as excavation, formwork, scaffolding, lifting, and working at height
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of
construction safety practices and HSE regulations
Familiarity with
ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 standards
Good communication and training skills
Ability to identify hazards and assess risks effectively
Proficiency in safety reporting and documentation
Leadership skills to enforce safety compliance on-site
Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering
Safety Certification
(NEBOSH / IOSH / Diploma in Industrial Safety preferred)
