The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing technical materials, equipment, and services required for projects and operations. This role combines engineering knowledge with commercial expertise to ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality-compliant procurement aligned with project and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and material requisitions to determine procurement requirements.
Identify, evaluate, and prequalify vendors and suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs, conduct technical and commercial bid evaluations, and recommend award decisions.
Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranties, and contractual conditions with suppliers.
Coordinate with engineering, project, QA/QC, planning, and logistics teams to ensure compliance with technical and project requirements.
Ensure purchased materials and equipment meet applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
Track purchase orders, expediting activities, and delivery schedules to meet project timelines.
Support inspection, testing, and acceptance of procured materials in coordination with QA/QC teams.
Manage supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery delays, or non-conformance.
Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and reports.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related field).
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and material standards.
Experience in vendor sourcing, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation.
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) is preferred.
