The Civil Engineer - Waterproofing Specialist will be responsible for planning, supervising, and ensuring the proper execution of waterproofing works across project sites. This role involves evaluating site conditions, selecting appropriate waterproofing systems, ensuring quality compliance, and coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and project teams to prevent water ingress and structural deterioration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical & Execution
Assess project drawings and specifications to determine waterproofing requirements.
Recommend suitable waterproofing systems (membrane, liquid-applied, cementitious, bitumen, polyurethane, etc.).
Prepare technical proposals, BOQs, and method statements for waterproofing works.
Supervise on-site waterproofing installation and ensure compliance with approved standards.
Conduct substrate preparation checks before application.
Perform field tests such as water ponding tests, adhesion tests, and leakage inspections.
2. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Monitor workmanship to ensure adherence to manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
Identify and resolve defects such as cracks, honeycombing, and dampness.
Maintain documentation such as QA/QC reports, daily site logs, inspection checklists, and test reports.
Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and regulatory codes.
3. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with project managers, architects, structural engineers, and subcontractors.
Communicate waterproofing requirements to site teams and ensure proper execution.
Liaise with material suppliers and verify quality certifications and compatibility.
Attend site meetings and provide technical guidance.
4. Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Conduct site investigations for leakage issues in existing structures.
Propose remedial waterproofing solutions.
Oversee repair works and ensure long-term performance.
Qualifications & Skills:Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
2-8 years of experience in waterproofing (depending on seniority).
Experience in building construction, basements, roofs, water tanks, podiums, or infrastructure waterproofing is preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of waterproofing materials and systems.
Familiarity with ASTM/BS/IS waterproofing standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Proficiency in site supervision and QA/QC processes.
