Job Description

Role Overview

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for

planning, execution, and completion of all civil and structural works

for a greenfield magnet manufacturing plant. This includes coordination with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure

timely, safe, and cost-effective construction

in compliance with statutory, environmental, and industrial standards.

Job Responsibilities

Greenfield Project Execution

Lead

civil construction activities

for factory buildings, foundations, utilities, and infrastructure. Execute works for

production blocks, sintering areas, machining shops, chemical processing zones, warehouses, utility buildings, R&D labs, admin blocks, and ETP/STP structures

. Interpret and implement

approved drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications

.

Design & Engineering Coordination

Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, and PMC for layout finalization. Review structural designs, load calculations, and foundation drawings suitable for heavy machinery, furnaces, presses, and vibration-sensitive equipment. Ensure compliance with industrial floor standards (flatness, load bearing, chemical resistance).

Contractor & Vendor Management

Finalize and manage civil contractors, subcontractors, and material vendors. Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and adherence to timelines. Certify running bills, RA bills, and final bills as per work progress.

Site Execution & Supervision

Supervise

excavation, PCC, RCC, steel structures, flooring, roofing, roads, drains, and boundary walls

. Ensure quality control of concrete, reinforcement, shuttering, and finishing works. Coordinate daily site activities and resolve execution challenges.

Industrial Infrastructure Development

Execute

internal & external roads, storm water drainage, cable trenches, pits, and utility corridors

. Oversee construction of

chemical handling areas, acid-resistant flooring, containment pits, and safety bunds

. Support installation readiness for heavy equipment foundations.

Statutory & Compliance

Ensure compliance with

local building by-laws, NBC, IS codes, factory norms, and environmental regulations

. Coordinate inspections and approvals from

local authorities and auditors

. Maintain documentation for statutory and compliance audits.

Cost & Schedule Control

Track project milestones and highlight deviations. Optimize material usage and control cost overruns. Assists in budget planning and cost forecasting.

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Technical Skills:

RCC & structural works execution Industrial flooring & heavy foundation design understanding Knowledge of IS codes, NBC, industrial standards AutoCAD / basic project documentation tools Understanding of ETP/STP civil structures

Preferred Exposure (Added Advantage)

Magnet / Rare Earth / Metallurgical plant experience Chemical handling area civil design Clean room or controlled environment construction Experience with PMC-led greenfield projects
