A Civil Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, execution, and supervision of construction and infrastructure projects. The role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant technical standards, codes, and client requirements. The Civil Engineer will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality civil engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Design
Prepare and review engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and calculations for civil structures (e.g., buildings, roads, drainage, utilities).
Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and interpret geotechnical reports.
Select appropriate construction materials and methods based on technical performance and cost-effectiveness.
2. Contract & Documentation
Assist in preparing Request for Proposals (RFPs), tender documents, and bill of quantities (BOQ).
Evaluate contractor bids and participate in bid analysis and recommendation.
Maintain project documentation including design records, change orders, and as-built drawings.
3. Project Execution & Supervision
Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Coordinate with contractors, surveyors, planners, and subcontractors on site.
Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
4. Quality Control & Compliance
Conduct quality control checks and material testing (e.g., concrete, soil compaction, reinforcement placement).
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, building codes, environmental standards, and company policies.
Identify potential risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
5. Budgeting & Reporting
Assist in cost estimation, budget tracking, and financial reporting.
Prepare periodic progress reports for management and clients.
Track project expenditures and advise on cost-saving opportunities.
6. Safety & Environmental Management
Enforce safety procedures on construction sites.
Facilitate safety training and toolbox talks.
Oversee implementation of environmental management plans and sustainability guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BE/B.Tech) from an accredited institution.
Experience
Minimum 5
years
of relevant experience in civil engineering and construction projects (varies based on seniority).
Experience with infrastructure, building construction, or industrial projects preferred in GCC .
