o Supervise and manage all daily construction activities for the breakwater package, ensuring work proceeds according to schedule, budget, and quality specifications.
o Directly oversee the construction of the breakwater's core, filter layers, and
rock bund
(revetment/core), ensuring correct material grading, placement, and compaction.
Armour Unit (Accropode) Placement:
o Manage the execution of
Accropode(TM) (or similar concrete armour unit) placing
operations, whether land-based or barge-based.
o Ensure placement teams adhere strictly to the design grid, interlocking rules, and placement specifications, using GPS and/or other positioning systems.
o Conduct regular visual and survey checks to verify placement density, orientation, and interlocking.
Profiling & Survey:
o Coordinate closely with the survey team to conduct pre-construction, interim, and post-construction
profiling
(including hydrographic surveys).
o Interpret survey data to ensure rock layers and armour units are placed to the correct design slopes, elevations, and tolerances.
o Authorize progress to the next layer only after a satisfactory survey and quality check.
Concrete Works (Precast & Cast-In-Situ):
o Oversee the on-site
cast-in-situ
concrete works, primarily for the breakwater's crown wall, wave wall, or other structural elements.
o Manage formwork, rebar installation, concrete pouring, and curing processes in a marine environment.
o Coordinate with the
precast
yard for the timely delivery and quality inspection of elements (e.g., Accropodes, crown wall blocks).
Quality & Safety Compliance (HSE/QC):
o Implement and enforce all project-specific safety (HSE) and quality (QA/QC) plans.
o Conduct material inspections for rock (size, quality, source) and concrete (slump, strength).
o Maintain detailed site records, including daily progress reports, inspection requests (IRs), material logs, and as-built drawings.
Coordination & Problem Solving:
o Liaise with the Project Manager, subcontractors, survey team, and client representatives.
o Identify and resolve technical queries (TQs) and on-site construction challenges promptly.
3. ?? Required Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc / B.Eng / B.Tech) in
Civil Engineering
or a related field.

such as breakwaters, ports, harbours, jetties, or causeways.
o
Proven, demonstrable experience
in the construction and supervision of
rock bunds
, revetments, and core/filter layers.
o
Essential Experience:
Direct involvement in the supervision and quality control of
concrete armour unit placement
(specifically
Accropode(TM)
, Xbloc, Tetrapod, or similar).
o Strong background in large-scale
precast
and
cast-in-situ concrete
works.
o Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex civil/marine engineering drawings, specifications, and placement grids.
4. ?? Preferred Skills & Attributes
Technical Skills:
o Familiarity with marine construction equipment (e.g., long-reach excavators, cranes, barges, GPS-guided placement systems).
o Strong understanding of survey principles, particularly
hydrographic surveying and profiling
.
o Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and/or Primavera P6 is an advantage.
Soft Skills:
o Strong leadership and team management abilities.
o Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
