The Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, executing, supervising, and monitoring rural drinking water supply infrastructure under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The role ensures that every rural household receives a Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) with adequate water quality and quantity.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Planning & Design
Conduct
baseline surveys
of villages, existing water sources, pipelines, and storage structures.
Prepare
technical feasibility reports (TFRs)
and
Detailed Project Reports (DPRs)
.
Design components such as:
Intake structures
Water treatment systems
Overhead tanks (OHTs)
Pumping systems
Rising and distribution pipelines
Household tap connections
Ensure designs follow
CPHEEO, BIS, and JJM guidelines
.
B. Project Execution & Supervision
Oversee construction activities executed by contractors/implementing agencies.
Conduct
site inspections
to ensure adherence to drawings, technical specs, and quality standards.
Verify
material quality
, workmanship, and safety norms.
Approve work measurements and verify contractor bills.
Coordinate with
PHED/ RWS departments, Gram Panchayats
, and implementation support agencies (ISAs).
C. Quality Assurance & Monitoring
Ensure quality control of pipelines, civil structures, concrete works, and fittings.
Maintain
daily progress reports (DPRs)
and site registers.
Use
JJM IMIS/Schemes monitoring tools
for progress updates.
Identify risks, delays, and recommend corrective actions.
D. Community Coordination
Participate in
Village Action Plan (VAP)
preparation with GP/VWSC.
Support VWSC in understanding O&M responsibilities.
Provide technical support during community consultations and awareness activities.
E. Operation & Maintenance Support
Assist GP/VWSC in setting up systems for O&M of water supply schemes.
Provide guidance for pump operation, leak detection, and routine maintenance.
3. Skills & Competencies Required
Strong knowledge of
rural water supply systems
, hydraulics, and civil engineering works.
Ability to read & prepare
AutoCAD drawings
, estimates, BOQs.
Familiarity with
CPHEEO Guidelines
,
BIS codes
, and JJM protocols.
Strong project management and field supervision skills.
Good communication skills with community and government stakeholders.
Proficiency in MS Office, GIS (optional), and engineering software tools.
4. Educational Qualification
B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering
(mandatory)
Diploma in Civil Engineering (acceptable for junior roles)
5. Experience
1-5 years of field experience in rural water supply / piped water supply / infrastructure projects.
Freshers with strong technical knowledge may be considered for junior engineer roles.
6. Key Deliverables
Timely completion of JJM water supply projects.
Quality assurance for all civil and mechanical components.
Accurate technical documentation and reporting.
Support to Gram Panchayats for long-term sustainability of water supply schemes.
7. Salary Range
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
