The ideal candidate should have a strong visual sense, technical expertise with cameras and lighting, and the ability to translate the director's vision into compelling visuals. The Cinematographer will be responsible for all aspects of image creation including camera setup, lighting design, composition, and overall visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the director and production team to interpret the visual style and tone of each project.
Determine the best camera and lens setup for each shoot.
Design and execute lighting setups according to the mood and genre of the project.
Operate or supervise camera operation during shoots.
Lead the camera and lighting crew, ensuring coordination and efficiency.
Scout locations to assess lighting and camera requirements.
Maintain continuity of visuals across scenes and shooting days.
Ensure all footage is properly exposed, focused, and composed.
Manage on-set look and mood, using camera movements and lighting techniques.
Stay updated on new technologies in cinematography, gear, and camera techniques.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Cinematographer (showreel required).
Strong understanding of camera equipment (DSLRs, Cinema Cameras like RED,Sony, Arri, Blackmagic, etc.).
Proficiency in lighting setups and exposure control.
Familiarity with different cinematic styles and shooting techniques.
Ability to interpret scripts and storyboards visually.
Excellent sense of composition, color, and movement.
Strong leadership skills and ability to direct camera and lighting teams.
Willingness to travel and work on-location as required.
Flexibility to work during irregular hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in government/PSU or documentary filming is a plus.
Drone operation skills or certification is an added advantage.
Basic understanding of post-production workflows (color grading, LUTs, etc.).
Good communication and problem-solving skills on set.
