The Cinematographer is responsible for creating the visual look and feel of all video and film productions. This role involves translating creative concepts into visually compelling shots through expert use of lighting, camera techniques, composition, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the director and creative team to understand the script, concept, and visual style.
Plan shot compositions, camera angles, and movement for each scene.
Lead camera crew and oversee all aspects of the camera department.
Set up and manage lighting to achieve the desired mood and aesthetic.
Select appropriate cameras, lenses, and equipment based on project requirements.
Ensure proper framing, exposure, color balance, and visual consistency.
Conduct location recces and determine technical requirements for shoots.
Direct lighting technicians, gaffers, and grips during production.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to cameras, lights, or other gear.
Work closely with the editor to ensure footage aligns with the intended visual tone.
Maintain and organize equipment before and after shoots.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience 4-7 as a Cinematographer.
Strong understanding of camera systems, lenses, lighting equipment, and rigging.
Excellent knowledge of framing, composition, and color grading basics.
Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate them into visuals.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing shoot conditions.
Knowledge of drones, gimbals, and advanced cinematography tools is an added advantage.
Preferred Background:
Diploma/Degree in Film, Media, or related field (optional but preferred).
Portfolio or showreel demonstrating past cinematography work.
