Key Responsibilities (the primary duties and tasks of the position)

Specific Tasks:

• Enhance plants operational efficiency, process & operational safety and plant availability through the addition of new facilities and by enhancing instrumentation
• Performance tracking of all processes and parameters, especially Electrolysers performance.
• Commission new projects.
• Subordinate development.
• Update P&ID and ensure documentation of changes in management.
• Evolve systems/procedures for better plant performance and integrating plant operations with SHEMS.
• Performance Appraisal and preparation of documents in consultation with HOD periodically.
• Ensure solid wastes are removed periodically without any accumulation.
• Ensure no compromise is made on process standards parameters and decrease the downtime to the lowest possible level.
• Enhance the communication channels between the superiors and subordinates to ensure the smooth functioning of the plant.
• Ensure active participation in all new management systems/programs and deliver the best to make the system very effective.

• Execution of electrolyser re-membraning, including planning for its material.
• Schedule and co-ordinate the shutdown jobs including electrolyser refurbishing and remembraning.
• Quick decision making to shut down the plant in case of any emergencies.
• Root cause analysis of breakdowns and stoppages within 24 hrs and implementing corrective and preventive action in consultation with the concerned HODs.
• Scheduling of department manpower.
• Guide Shift Engineers and Operators about handling any problems arising during the shift.
• Compilation of shutdown jobs and coordination for timely completion of jobs during shut down.
• Act on customer complaints and initiate action for avoiding recurrence
• Guide Shift Engineers/Operators during critical equipment changeover/isolation.
• Execute the scheduled process maintenance.
• Take over the responsibility of the person (in absence) both above and below the present position in the hierarchy.
• Prepare and maintain the SHEMS documents of the entire Process Department.
• Conduct an internal audit.
• Train Engineers / Technicians / Management Trainees
• Raise and close work permits.
• Help operators in isolating piping/equipment for maintenance clearance, if any.
• Make rounds in plant sections and interact with individual operators to know plant status and sign logbooks after ensuring updation. Highlighting the deviations, if any, to the superiors immediately.
• Oversee the process parameters and take corrective action in case of any deviation.
• Inform superiors in case of any upsets/deviations.
• Ensure the plant has undergone a safe shut down sequence.
• Safe start-up of plant as and when required.
• Execute small jobs during unexpected shutdowns.
• Monitor FENPS operation and take trials at periodic intervals to ensure the healthiness of the system with proper documentation.
• Ensure not more than 500 cylinders are stored in the section (Full cylinders -250 Nos, Empty 175 Nos and Test due / suspension including condemned cylinders 75 Nos).
• Guide the leak control team in case of emergency and perform as part of the emergency team.
• Ensure on-site mock drills are conducted at periodic intervals in coordination with the Safety department.

• Monitor and ensure proper housekeeping.
• Monitor and ensure all employees wear PPEs while at work and no restricted/banned materials are under the possession of employees/workmen and contract labourers on duty.
• Conduct periodic departmental meetings to ensure proper dissemination of information.
• Adhere to the safety instructions at all times to achieve accident/incident free plant operation.
• Optimize the manpower utilization at both the casual and workmen level and restrict OT.
