To assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting authentic Chinese dishes, ensuring consistency, quality, and hygiene standards are maintained as per the restaurant's culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese dishes (dim sum, stir-fries, noodles, soups, sauces, etc.) under the guidance of senior chefs.
Ensure mise-en-place is completed before service.
Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines as set by the Head Chef.
Assist in menu planning and development of new Chinese dishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Chinese kitchen section.
Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards at all times.
Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of ingredients.
Support colleagues and promote teamwork within the kitchen.
Requirements
Previous experience as Commis I or similar role in a Chinese kitchen.
Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking methods (wok handling, steaming, roasting, dumpling preparation, etc.).
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Basic knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
Education & Experience
Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience specializing in Chinese cuisine in hotels or fine dining restaurants.
