About the role
A Chiller Technician
installs, maintains, and repairs large-scale cooling systems, diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical issues to ensure efficient operation
. Key responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, conducting emergency repairs, maintaining detailed logs, and ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
Key responsibilities
Installation:
Install, commission, and set up chillers and related components.
Maintenance:
Perform routine checks, cleaning, adjustments, and preventative maintenance on chiller systems, including components like compressors, pumps, and cooling towers.
Repair:
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults in refrigeration circuits, motors, and control systems. This includes brazing, soldering, and handling refrigerants.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve problems with various components of the cooling system, such as water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.
Compliance and documentation:
Adhere to all safety regulations, like Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and maintain accurate records of all work performed.
Technical support:
Provide technical guidance and training to other technicians and assist with customer inquiries.
Physical requirements:
Perform physical tasks including climbing, lifting, and operating machinery, often in various weather conditions. Experience 8-10 years in HVAC
Required skills and qualifications
Technical knowledge:
Proficiency with refrigeration, electrical systems, and mechanical components of large-scale HVAC/chiller systems.
Experience:
Experience in industrial or commercial environments and with different types of chillers.
Certifications:
A relevant trade qualification, a Refrigerant Handling Licence, and a Construction Induction Card are often required.
Manual skills:
Ability to use a variety of tools, including diagnostic analyzers, welders, and precision measuring equipment.
Physical fitness:
Ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
