Position Overview:
The Child Welfare Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety, protection, rights, and holistic development of children within the program area. The role includes identifying vulnerable children, ensuring access to essential services like health, education, nutrition, and protection, and supporting families and communities in building child-friendly environments.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Individual Care Planning
Prepare and maintain individual care plans for each child in the institution.
Conduct social investigation reports and home studies as required.
Ensure regular follow-ups, case reviews, and appropriate interventions for each child's development and rehabilitation.
Coordination with Authorities
Liaise with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), and other relevant authorities.
Facilitate production of children before the CWC or JJB as required.
Rehabilitation and Reintegration
Work toward the restoration, foster care, adoption, or aftercare of children as per their needs.
Assist in linking children with vocational training, education, healthcare, and counselling services.
Monitoring and Reporting
Maintain updated records of all children in the prescribed formats.
Submit monthly progress reports to the Superintendent of CCI, Counsellor and DCPU.
Ensure timely updating of the Track Child Portal or other designated information systems.
Child Rights and Safeguarding
Ensure that child rights are protected and that the institution follows the Standards of Care under the JJ Act.
Identify and report any cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Capacity Building
Attend and participate in training programs and workshops.
Guide and orient staff regarding child protection policies and individual care approaches.
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential Qualification: Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Law.
Desirable: Prior experience working with children in difficult circumstances or institutional care.
Strong understanding of JJ Act, 2015 and related child protection mechanisms.
Good communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathy and sensitivity while working with children and families in difficult circumstances.
Documentation and report-writing ability.
Proficiency in local language and basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
Ability to work independently and in team settings.
