The Chief Medical Director provides overall leadership for all clinical departments, ensuring safe, ethical, high-quality patient care. The CMD oversees clinical governance, regulatory compliance, staff performance, and aligns clinical operations with the hospital's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise all clinical departments.
Develop and enforce clinical governance frameworks, policies, and protocols.
Ensure compliance with national and international healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
Oversee recruitment, credentialing, and performance evaluation of medical staff.
Promote continuous medical education, training, and mentorship.
Drive clinical quality improvement, patient safety, and risk-management initiatives.
Collaborate with hospital leadership to support strategic and operational goals.
Ensure adequate clinical resources, equipment, and staffing.
Monitor patient outcomes, morbidity, and mortality to improve quality of care.
Represent the hospital in professional, regulatory, and government forums.
Foster evidence-based practice, research, and innovation.
Champion ethical conduct, confidentiality, and patient-centered care.
Key Requirements
MBBS/MD or equivalent, with postgraduate specialization.
Minimum 15 years clinical experience, including 5+ years in leadership.
Valid Nigerian medical license.
Strong understanding of medical regulations and accreditation standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Proven record in quality improvement and patient safety.
Ability to collaborate with diverse clinical teams and stakeholders.
