Job Profile: Chief Executive Officer

India Impact Investors Council (IIC) is hiring for a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization. IIC is India\'s pre-eminent \'not for profit\' industry body with an exclusive focus on developing the Impact investing ecosystem in the country. Having begun operation in 2014 with a handful of initial supporters, IIC presently boasts more than 55 active members comprising most leading impact funds, investors and philanthropies/foundations.

The key agendas for IIC include

1. Capital and policy advocacy: creating visibility for India as an impact investing destination and increasing the flow of capital for the sector

2. Applied industry analysis and research on issues related to Indian impact sector to shape the narrative for Indian impact with an active outreach through self-organized/third party events and conferences.

3. Diversifying the narrative for Impact capital by deepening coverage in areas like Blended Finance for Impact, Green Finance etc to increase the scope and scale of IIC\'s effort.

4. Active engagement and partnership with government and regulatory bodies to build a more conducive ecosystem for social impact investing through increased availability of capital and relevant regulatory interventions.

This is an excellent leadership opportunity to work at the confluence of social impact and development financing with the potential for deep and wide exposure to the Indian impact investing sector.

The CEO role at IIC

The role would involve

1. Overall responsibility for IIC\'s operations and financial sustainability, representing the interests of social impact investors.

2. Leading and strategizing the organization\'s go to market plan to systematically increase coverage across asset managers, investors and other market players.

3. Active outreach to a wide network of global and domestic investors (LPs/foundations), family offices etc to evangelise the cause of Indian impact investing

4. Building partnerships with impact fund managers, think tanks and other key members of the sector for research projects, capacity building initiatives and other activities to support the impact ecosystem

5. Maintaining and enhancing the membership/revenue base of IIC through a variety of market building efforts, conferences and events, as well as active engagement with potential new members.

6. Leading the IIC team\'s business operations providing strategic and operations support to the research efforts, conference/event planning and execution as well as member outreach and engagement.

7. Actively engaging Government of India (MOF as line ministries) and regulators, and helping showcase how social impact investing can prove to be a critical piece in the government\'s vision to create a more equitable and just society: over a period of time the aspiration would be to build a more facilitative environment with efficient funding mechanisms to drive more funding to the social impact sector.

What kind of Person are we looking for?

1. A strong believer in the transformative power of finance used right with deep commitment to creating social impact. Cross over candidates who are looking to transition from the corporate sector are encouraged to apply.

2. An experience of 15+ years with a strong interest / background in the Indian / International corporate sector/ financial market/ development sector with a high level of curiosity and strong learning orientation.

3. A background in financial analysis / industry research / with a degree in finance is preferable but not a constraint.

4. An entrepreneurial self-starter mindset, with a capacity to manage multiple stakeholders effectively, and the capacity to work in high ambiguity situations is a prerequisite.

Organizational culture at IIC

The IIC secretariat is a small seven-member team operating out of Mumbai and Delhi, and reports into the board comprising of senior members of the social impact sector in the country. The team is entrepreneurial, flexible and high on energy with a can-do attitude: passionate about social impact but equally convinced about the need for financially viable business models to make impact scalable and sustainable. Over the last two years, the team has worked on over 15 research efforts, our reports have been downloaded over 4000 times, we have an active events/conference calendar and the fourth edition of our flagship conference on social impact investing Prabhav, welcomed over 900 visitors from 15 countries in September 2022.
