FUNCTION TITLE
Chief Engineer- Battery Pack development
PURPOSE
Develop Lithium-ion Battery packs for Automotive application by continuous interface with potential customers. drive internal Cross functional team to develop New product
design, development, validation, manufacturing and customer support. The Chief Engineer- Battery Pack development will be reporting to Head of R&D Pack and Module
JOB DESCRIPTION

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to create application requirements.
• Develop system and component level requirements for the battery system including the battery management system (BMS).
• Create and implement a thermal management strategy for the battery system (heating and cooling).
• Conduct risk assessments, FMEA and design reviews.
• Define the battery back durability, reliability and testing requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of the current technical state and new innovations relative to advanced battery systems.
• Integrate the battery system with other electrical and mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs)
• Execute and oversee onsite and supplier testing.
• Ensure new products meet agency compliance
• Act as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and experience

• Ability to solve complex engineering problems.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Experience leading the design and development of advanced battery systems from concept thru production launch.
• Knowledge of li-ion battery technology, including various cell chemistries.
• Experience conducting a FMEA for advanced battery systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Bachelor's /master's degree in mechanical / Mechatronics

Should have exposure to following software tools:
1) Design

• Solid Works.
• CATIA.

2) CAE

• ANSYS.
• ABAQUS.
• FEMFAT.
• Fluent, CFX.

DESIRED SKILLS

• 12-16 years experience in New product development in Automotive area
• He should be a B.E /Mtech (Mechanical / Mechantronics)
• Preior experience in Battery pack development is prefered
• Leadership Skills are mandatory
• The incumbent should have knowledge towards Application Engineering.
• The said role would need the candidate to put the battery in the vehicle after manufacturing, check the performance and modify the product in accordance to the customer needs.
• The role would need the candidate to be sound with Technical Knowledge and has exposure in customer dealing.
