The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and efficient functioning of all machinery, utilities, and infrastructure in the laundry facility. The role ensures uninterrupted operations by leading a team of technicians and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the operation and maintenance of all laundry equipment (washers, dryers, ironers, boilers, compressors, water softeners, etc.).
Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Ensure availability and optimal functioning of utilities -- water, power, steam, and air supply.
Supervise and guide the engineering team, including electricians, fitters, and technicians.
Maintain proper documentation for maintenance records, equipment history, and utility consumption.
Coordinate with external vendors for AMC, spare parts, and service support.
Ensure adherence to safety standards, statutory norms, and energy conservation practices.
Plan for equipment upgrades, replacements, and capacity enhancement as per business needs.
Manage the engineering budget and inventory of spare parts effectively.
Support the operations team during breakdowns to ensure quick restoration of production.
Conduct regular inspection rounds and report potential risks or issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering.
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in industrial or commercial laundry / hospitality engineering.
In-depth knowledge of utility systems (boilers, compressors, water treatment, HVAC).
Hands-on experience in troubleshooting electromechanical equipment.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
