Job Description

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and functionality of all resort facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pool systems, landscaping machinery, and infrastructure. This role ensures that all assets are operating efficiently, safely, and in compliance with health and safety regulations. The Chief Engineer will lead and manage the engineering team while coordinating closely with other department heads.

Key Responsibilities:



Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for all equipment and resort infrastructure. Plan and implement energy conservation and cost-saving measures. Manage and maintain all utility systems, including water supply, generators, STP, WTP, and electrical panels. Lead and supervise a team of technicians, electricians, and plumbers. Monitor and ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental regulations. Manage AMC contracts and liaise with external vendors for technical services. Maintain records of inspections, breakdowns, repair work, and safety checks. Coordinate with the housekeeping and front office team to handle guest room maintenance issues promptly. Prepare annual maintenance budgets and control expenses efficiently. Oversee renovation or upgrade projects as per resort standards. Conduct regular training sessions for the engineering staff on fire safety, first aid, equipment handling, and emergency procedures. Conduct regular inspections of the property and prepare reports for the management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5-8 years of experience in hotel/resort engineering operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, water treatment, fire safety systems, and building automation. Good understanding of local government regulations and environmental standards. Proficient in using maintenance management software. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:



Prior experience in a resort or leisure property. Certification in Fire & Safety or Energy Management is a plus. Familiarity with green building and energy efficiency practices.
