Position Overview

Unicent School is seeking a passionate and skilled Part-Time Chess Teacher to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for teaching chess to students, fostering strategic thinking, and promoting a love for the game. This role involves planning and delivering engaging chess lessons, coaching students for competitions, and contributing to the school's extracurricular programs. The position is part-time, with flexible hours suited to the school's schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction

: Plan and deliver chess lessons to students of varying skill levels, focusing on rules, strategies, tactics, and sportsmanship.

Skill Development

: Teach fundamental chess concepts, including openings, middlegame strategies, endgame techniques, and critical thinking skills.

Coaching

: Prepare students for inter-school, regional, and national chess tournaments, providing guidance on competitive play.

Classroom Management

: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment during chess classes.

Assessment

: Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain records of student performance.

Event Organization

: Assist in organizing in-school chess events, matches, or tournaments to promote student engagement.

Collaboration

: Work with school staff and administration to integrate chess into the school's extracurricular framework.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience

: Proven experience in playing and/or teaching chess, preferably with a recognized chess rating (e.g., FIDE, national, or equivalent).

Education

: Bachelor's degree in any discipline; additional certifications in chess coaching (e.g., FIDE Trainer or equivalent) are a plus.

Skills

: Strong knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and modern training methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students of different age groups. Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop their chess skills. Patience and adaptability to cater to diverse learning needs.

Availability

: Flexible to work part-time hours during designated extracurricular periods.

Local Knowledge

: Familiarity with the Hyderabad chess community and regional tournaments is an advantage.

Work Schedule

Classes and coaching sessions will be scheduled based on the school's academic calendar and extracurricular timetable.
