Develop and implement lesson plans and teaching methods that align with the engineering curriculum requirements.
Lectures & Practical Sessions:
Deliver engaging lectures on topics such as organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, and plan and supervise mandatory laboratory experiments and activities.
Laboratory Management & Safety:
Ensure students understand and follow all safety regulations for handling chemicals, equipment, and other hazardous materials in the lab.
Student Evaluation:
Evaluate and grade student coursework, lab work, assignments, and examinations, and track academic progress.
Mentorship & Support:
Advise students on academic matters and career paths, and provide extra support to those who need it.
Departmental Collaboration & Administration:
Collaborate with other faculty members and serve on academic or administrative committees. This also includes performing administrative tasks like maintaining student records and managing lab supplies.
Professional Development:
Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of chemistry and incorporate relevant advancements and modern teaching techniques into the curriculum.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Education:
A Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field is generally required, and relevant teaching certifications may also be necessary.
Technical Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of chemistry concepts, laboratory practices, and their application in engineering contexts.
Instructional Skills:
Excellent communication, presentation, and teaching skills to explain complex concepts clearly and engage a diverse student body.
Hands-on Approach:
Ability to provide practical, hands-on instruction and foster critical thinking skills through experimentation.
Organizational Skills:
Strong multitasking, time management, and organizational skills to manage classroom dynamics and administrative duties effectively.
