Duties and Responsibilities:1. Raw Material Analysis
Conduct chemical analysis of all incoming raw materials such as scrap metal, ingots, alloys, and fluxes.
Verify the chemical composition meets production standards before melting.
Maintain test certificates and analysis reports for traceability.
2. In-Process Quality Control
Perform spectrographic or wet chemical analysis during melting to monitor metal composition.
Advise furnace operators to add suitable alloys or modifiers to achieve required composition.
Monitor and record temperature, slag condition, and other process parameters.
3. Finished Product Testing
Analyze final metal samples (ingots, billets, or cast components) to ensure chemical composition matches the specified grade (e.g., aluminum alloys, brass, stainless steel, copper, etc.).
Maintain laboratory test reports for all finished batches.
4. Process Optimization
Support production in developing and improving melting and refining practices.
Recommend adjustments in fluxing, deoxidation, and degassing methods to improve metal quality.
Help reduce rejections due to chemical defects like porosity, inclusions, or segregation.
5. Laboratory Management
Maintain laboratory instruments such as spectrometer, muffle furnace, balances, and reagents.
Calibrate and ensure proper functioning of testing equipment.
Maintain safe storage of chemicals and follow all safety protocols.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on chemical analysis results.
Keep detailed records of heat numbers, batch results, and corrective actions.
Assist in preparing quality assurance documents for customer inspection or ISO audits.
7. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards related to laboratory operations.
Handle and dispose of chemical wastes responsibly as per company policy.
8. Coordination
Coordinate with production, quality control, and maintenance teams for process adjustments.
Assist in training operators and supervisors on metallurgical quality requirements.
