Job Description

Role Overview



The Chemist - ETP will be responsible for the

operation, monitoring, and optimization of the Effluent Treatment Plant

, ensuring compliance with

pollution control norms

, maintaining treated water quality standards, and supporting sustainable environmental practices at the facility.

Key ResponsibilitiesETP Operations



Operate and monitor the

Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)

on a daily basis. Ensure effective functioning of

primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment units

. Maintain proper dosing of chemicals such as coagulants, flocculants, pH adjusters, and disinfectants. Monitor flow rates, retention time, sludge generation, and disposal.

Water & Effluent Analysis



Conduct routine analysis of: pH, TSS, TDS, BOD, COD, Oil & Grease Chlorides, Sulphates, Heavy Metals (as applicable) Maintain laboratory records and test reports. Ensure treated effluent meets

Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB)

and

CPCB

standards.

Compliance & Documentation



Maintain statutory records, logbooks, and environmental registers. Assist during

pollution control inspections and audits

. Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports. Ensure compliance with

Environmental Protection Act, 1986

and relevant rules.

Maintenance & Housekeeping



Coordinate with maintenance team for routine upkeep of pumps, blowers, tanks, and pipelines. Ensure safe storage and handling of chemicals. Maintain laboratory and ETP housekeeping standards.

Safety & Environment



Follow safety protocols and ensure use of PPE. Support environmental sustainability initiatives and water recycling efforts. Assist in emergency response related to effluent handling.

Educational Qualification



B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry / Environmental Science


OR



Diploma/Degree in Chemical Engineering / Environmental Engineering


Experience



1-4 years

of experience in operating

ETP/STP

in industrial or commercial facilities. Freshers with strong practical knowledge may also be considered.

Skills & Competencies



Practical knowledge of

ETP processes and chemical dosing

Hands-on experience with

laboratory testing instruments

Familiarity with pollution control norms and compliance Basic computer skills (MS Excel, reporting) Good documentation and record-keeping skills Ability to work in shifts, if required

Preferred Skills



Experience in

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD)

systems Exposure to

RO, MEE, and sludge management

Knowledge of JSPCB/CPCB guidelines

Working Conditions



Plant-based role Exposure to chemicals and industrial environment PPE mandatory during operations
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?15,000.00 - ?18,000.00 per month
