As a Chef Intern, you'll be involved in various aspects of kitchen operations, including:
Food Preparation:
Assisting with mise en place, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients (vegetables, meats, seafood).
Learning and executing basic cooking techniques under supervision (e.g., sauteing, roasting, simmering).
Preparing sauces, stocks, and garnishes as instructed.
Kitchen Operations & Hygiene:
Maintaining a clean and organized workstation at all times.
Adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP principles, if applicable).
Assisting with receiving and proper storage of food deliveries, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO).
Supporting dishwashing duties and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness.
Learning & Development:
Actively observing and learning from senior chefs.
Asking questions and seeking feedback to improve skills.
Understanding different stations within the kitchen (e.g., hot section, cold section, pastry).
Learning about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
Team Collaboration:
Working effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues.
Following instructions from the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Chef de Parties.
Demonstrating a positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or a related field.
Strong passion for cooking and the culinary arts
is essential.
Basic understanding of kitchen operations and cooking techniques preferred.
Eagerness to learn
and a proactive approach to tasks.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment (standing for long periods, lifting moderately heavy items).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
Ability to follow instructions accurately.
A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
