The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and desserts, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of hygiene, presentation, and taste. You will be responsible for preparing pastries, desserts, and baked goods, while supervising junior kitchen staff and ensuring efficient kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present a wide variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods to the highest standards.
Lead the pastry section during service, ensuring all items are prepared on time and according to recipes and plating guidelines.
Assist in menu development by contributing new pastry and dessert ideas.
Maintain stock levels, check quality of ingredients, and place orders as needed.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
Train and supervise Commis Chefs and other junior staff in pastry techniques and kitchen etiquette.
Monitor portion and waste control to minimize food cost.
Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all pastry equipment and the working area.
Collaborate with other kitchen sections to coordinate service and optimize kitchen efficiency.
Assist in inventory management, monthly stock takes, and cost control activities.
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts / Patisserie / Hotel Management
Professional pastry training or certification is preferred
Experience:
3-5 years of relevant experience in a hotel, restaurant, or commercial bakery
At least 1-2 years in a supervisory or Chef de Partie role within the pastry section
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and plating
Creativity in dessert presentation and flavor combination
Familiarity with international and local pastry trends
Leadership and team management abilities
Good communication and organizational skills
Attention to detail, cleanliness, and quality control
Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
