Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the financial operations, reporting, compliance, and strategic growth of our mining company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire finance and accounting department, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, providing financial insights for decision-making, and supporting the company's growth objectives. This role is critical in managing financial risk, analyzing operational costs, and ensuring the financial health of mining projects and investments.

Key Responsibilities:



Financial Reporting & Control:

Prepare and present financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements. Manage general ledgers, ensure accurate reconciliations, and ensure compliance with accounting standards such as Ind-AS and IFRS. Oversee the end-to-end financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Taxation & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including GST, TDS, Income Tax filings, and other statutory requirements. Navigate complex mining-specific tax and regulatory guidelines. Oversee the timely filing of returns and manage any tax-related audits.

Cost Accounting & Budgeting:

Analyze production, transportation, and machinery-related costs to optimize cost control. Compare actual expenditures to budget forecasts, identify variances, and provide reports and recommendations to senior management. Develop, monitor, and manage operational budgets, including financial planning and forecasting.

Financial Analysis & Project Finance:

Create and manage financial models for mining projects and investments. Perform detailed cash flow analysis, assess financial risks, and evaluate the financial viability of potential and ongoing projects. Support the due diligence process for new investments and operational improvements. Provide actionable financial insights to senior leadership and investors.

Asset Management:

Oversee the accounting and financial management of significant assets such as mining machinery, vehicles, and other capital assets. Ensure accurate tracking of fixed assets and ensure proper depreciation and asset lifecycle management.

Leadership & Guidance:

Provide strategic financial leadership to the finance and accounting teams. Guide and support branch operations and ensure financial policies and procedures are followed across all locations. Manage the finalization of books of accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Compliance with Mining Industry Regulations:

Stay updated on mining industry regulations and ensure all activities comply with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. Maintain awareness of any regulatory changes that could impact the company's financials or operations.

Financial Risk & Investment Decision Support:

Lead risk assessment activities for mining investments and provide recommendations for mitigation. Evaluate the financial feasibility of new mining ventures, expansions, and operational improvements.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:



Proven experience in managing financial reporting, compliance, and operations in the mining sector or similar industries. Strong knowledge of accounting standards (Ind-AS/IFRS) and statutory compliance, especially in GST, TDS, and Income Tax. Expertise in cost accounting, financial analysis, and financial modeling for large-scale projects and investments. Experience with fixed asset accounting, particularly for mining machinery and equipment. Familiarity with mining industry-specific regulations and Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance. Strong understanding of financial risk management and investment decision-making in mining operations. Ability to develop and manage operational budgets, cost controls, and financial forecasts. Experience handling complex financial instruments, including loans and credit terms. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong strategic thinking and ability to influence senior leadership and investors with financial insights.

Desired Qualifications:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CA, CPA, or CFA. At least 12+ years of experience in finance leadership roles, preferably in the mining industry or other heavy industries.
