o Qualified/Semi qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
o 1-2 years of experience in Income Tax litigation and assessments.
Hands-on exposure to search & seizure cases and appellate forums is mandatory.
Experience with significant litigation cases will be a strong advantage.
Role Summary :
The Chartered Accountant will be responsible for handling Income Tax assessments, scrutiny proceedings, search & seizure matters, and appellate litigation. The role requires strong legal analysis, drafting skills, and representation before tax authorities and appellate forums.
Key Responsibilities:
Income Tax Scrutiny & Assessment
Handle scrutiny assessments under Sections 143(2) and 143(3).
Manage assessment and reassessment proceedings under Sections 147, 148, 153A, 153C, including cases arising from search and seizure operations.
Draft and file replies to notices, questionnaires, and show cause notices issued by the Assessing Officer.
Represent clients during assessment proceedings and ensure effective closure of cases.
2. Search & Seizure (Search & Survey)
Handle matters arising out of search & seizure (Section 132) and survey (Section 133A).
Assist clients during and post-search proceedings, including statement analysis, documentation review, and damage control strategy.
Prepare submissions and explanations for post-search assessments and defend additions made by the department.
3. Appeals & Litigation
Draft grounds of appeal, statements of facts, written submissions, and rejoinders.
File and argue appeals before Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) - CIT(A) and Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT).
Handle significant and complex litigation cases involving high-value additions, penalties, and prosecution matters.
4. Legal Analysis & Case Strategy o Analyze assessment orders, penalty orders, and appellate orders to identify legal and factual issues. o Develop litigation strategies aligned with judicial precedents and statutory provisions. o Apply case laws, CBDT circulars, instructions, and notifications to support client positions.
5. Research & Knowledge Application o Conduct in-depth research on Income Tax Act provisions, amendments, and judicial pronouncements. o Track latest rulings of ITAT, High Courts, and Supreme Court relevant to ongoing matters. o Provide legal opinions and advisory notes to clients and internal teams.
6. Compliance & Documentation o Manage Income Tax portal filings, including appeals, rectifications, and responses. o Ensure accurate documentation, timely filings, and statutory compliance. o Maintain complete litigation files, records, and case trackers.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong command over Income Tax Act, Rules, and Procedures.
Expertise in scrutiny, reassessment, search & seizure, and appellate litigation.
Excellent drafting, interpretation, and analytical skills.
Ability to handle complex litigation and high-pressure cases. o Strong communication and client-handling skills.
