Job Description

The Medical Coding trainee will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and ensuring compliance with all relevant coding guidelines and regulations.

Certification from a recognized coding organization such as AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS) is required

Experience/Qualification :

Completion of a medical coding training program (certificate or diploma). Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Basic understanding of healthcare billing and reimbursement processes. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities :

Review and analyze medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures. Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on medical documentation. Ensure accurate and timely submission of coded data for billing and reimbursement purposes. Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing staff to clarify documentation and coding queries. Stay updated with the latest coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory changes. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
