Central Maintenance Lead – Machinery Maintenance

Job Description

Job Purpose:



To lead and manage the central machinery maintenance function across all garment manufacturing units, ensuring uninterrupted production by implementing preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance strategies for all types of sewing, finishing, cutting, and utility machines.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance



Lead the team in executing scheduled preventive maintenance plans across units. Analyze breakdown data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Ensure minimum downtime of critical production machinery.

2. Machine Health Monitoring & Audit



Regularly assess the health of sewing, cutting, fusing, ironing, finishing, and utility machines. Implement and monitor performance-based metrics (MTTR, MTBF). Conduct monthly machine condition audits and submit reports.

3. Team Management



Lead a team of unit-level maintenance engineers and technicians. Conduct skill assessments, training, and upskilling programs for maintenance teams. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and SOPs during all maintenance activities.

4. Spare Parts & Inventory Management



Standardize critical spare parts across units. Optimize inventory levels for essential parts and consumables. Coordinate with procurement for timely availability of parts.

5. Machine Installation & Commissioning



Lead machinery installation, setup, calibration, and commissioning for new lines or units. Ensure installation meets manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.

6. Energy & Utility Management



Monitor and optimize machine energy consumption, compressed air, steam, and other utilities. Collaborate with energy management teams for sustainable practices.

7. Documentation & Compliance



Maintain machine history records, AMC details, compliance logs, and manuals. Ensure alignment with ISO, SA8000, and other industry compliance standards.

8. Continuous Improvement & Automation



Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual maintenance load. Participate in CAPEX planning for maintenance infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:



Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering. 8-12 years of experience in maintenance function, preferably in the garment or textile industry. Strong understanding of industrial sewing machinery and finishing equipment.

Skills & Competencies:



In-depth knowledge of machinery like Juki, Brother, Pegasus, Eastman, etc. Good leadership and cross-functional coordination skills. Problem-solving mindset with expertise in root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone). Familiarity with ERP systems and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 per year
