Job Description

Technical Responsibilities:

1. Structured Cabling (Cat?6)

Perform cable routing and installation (Cat?6 UTP) through ceilings, walls, conduits, and floor raceways. Terminate, crimp, label, and test cables at patch panels, camera endpoints, and network racks using RJ?45 connectors. Ensure proper cable management, strain relief, dressing, and adherence to TIA/EIA or ISO cabling standards.

2. CCTV Commissioning & Maintenance

Install and align IP/analog CCTV cameras, including mounting, leveling, and focus adjustments. Configure network devices such as switches, routers, and patch panels; assign VLANs, IP addresses, and ensure PoE connectivity to cameras. Connect NVR/DVR units, configure recording schedules, and verify playback and video quality. Conduct periodic preventive maintenance including firmware updates, lens cleaning, cable health checks, and system performance assessments.

3. Testing & Troubleshooting

Use cable testers and network diagnostic tools to verify connectivity, bandwidth capacity, and detect faults. Troubleshoot issues such as signal loss, network latency, damaged cables, incorrect configurations, and camera malfunctions. Document site surveys, cabling plans, test logs, issue reports, and corrective actions taken.

4. Collaboration & Compliance

Work with IT/NOC teams to integrate cameras into NTPC's network infrastructure while maintaining security and network compliance. Adhere to all safety protocols, including safe use of ladders, proper cable handling, and maintaining clean and organized workspaces. Comply with NTPC's standard operating procedures and relevant regulatory standards. Coordinate with supervisors and contractors for escalated issues or collaborative installations.
