Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Installation

:

Site Survey

: Assess the premises to determine the optimal locations for cameras, recorders, and other surveillance equipment.

System Setup

: Install CCTV cameras, monitors, recorders (DVRs/NVRs), wiring, and accessories. Ensure that the equipment is properly configured for operation.

Wiring

: Run and secure cables (coaxial, Ethernet, power) as needed, ensuring proper connectivity between components.

Network Configuration

: For IP-based systems, configure network settings and ensure cameras can transmit data over the network securely.

Maintenance

:

Troubleshooting

: Diagnose faults in the system such as poor image quality, connectivity issues, or malfunctioning equipment, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.

System Configuration

Software Setup

: Set up and configure the CCTV software for features like motion detection, remote access, and alarms.

Remote Access

: Configure and test remote viewing setups, allowing users to access live and recorded footage from mobile devices or computers.

Client Interaction

:

Consultation

: Provide advice to clients on selecting appropriate CCTV systems and camera types based on their security needs.

Training

: Train clients on how to use and maintain the CCTV system effectively, including how to view footage, manage settings, and interpret alerts.

Documentation

System Documentation

: Keep records of installations, maintenance, and repairs, including technical details of each system setup.

Compliance

: Ensure that CCTV installations comply with local regulations, including privacy laws and data protection guidelines.

Problem-Solving

:

Fault Diagnosis

: Quickly identify and resolve issues with the CCTV system, such as faulty hardware or software glitches.

Component Replacement

: Replace broken or outdated parts of the system, including cameras, hard drives, or power supplies.
Skills Required:

Technical Knowledge

: Familiarity with CCTV cameras, recording devices, cabling, networking, and software tools.

Problem-Solving

: Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues efficiently.

Attention to Detail

: Ensuring that all installations are completed to a high standard and that every system works correctly.

: Effectively communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide technical support.

Manual Dexterity

: Comfortable with tools and equipment to install and maintain CCTV systems.

Commercial Properties

The role can also sometimes involve shift work or being on-call, especially in larger security setups or when quick response times are critical.
