The Cath Lab Technician assists cardiologists during invasive cardiovascular procedures, including angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, and pacemaker implantation. You will be responsible for preparing the sterile field, monitoring patient vitals, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and care.
Key Responsibilities
Procedural Assistance:
Scrub in and assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
Hemodynamic Monitoring:
Monitor and record ECG, blood pressure, and other vital signs throughout the procedure; alert the physician to any abnormalities.
Equipment Operation:
Operate specialized imaging equipment (Fluoroscopy, IVUS, OCT) and ensure all hardware is calibrated and functioning correctly.
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for procedures (shaving, scrubbing, and positioning) and provide post-procedural care, including sheath removal and site management.
Emergency Response:
Act quickly and effectively during emergency situations (e.g., cardiac arrest) within the lab.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate patient logs, procedure records, and inventory of supplies while adhering to HIPAA and hospital safety protocols.
